Day 1: Delhi to Haridwar (230 km / 6-7 hours)
Your Do Dham Yatra Trek adventure begins as you meet the tour representative at Delhi Airport, Railway Station or your hotel and embark on the scenic drive towards Haridwar. The journey takes you through the plains towards the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, and upon arrival in Haridwar you check in at the hotel to rest and prepare for the spiritual journey ahead. If time permits, you visit the sacred Mansa Devi Temple, perched on a hilltop offering panoramic views of Haridwar city, and the Chandi Devi Temple dedicated to Goddess Chandidevi situated at Neel Parvat. In the evening you witness the moving ritual of Ganga Aarti at Har-ki-Pauri, where priests perform worship of the sacred Ganga River after sunset, floating oil lamps on the water in a deeply spiritual ceremony that marks the beginning of your pilgrimage.
Day 2: Haridwar to Guptkashi (210 km / 7-8 hours)
After a nourishing breakfast at the hotel, you drive directly towards Guptkashi, a small town nestled in the lap of the Garhwal Himalayas along the Mandakini River. The route offers beautiful mountain scenery as you follow the river's course, which originates from the sacred Kedarnath. Throughout the drive you experience the gradual transition from plains to mountains, with glimpses of terraced fields, small villages and dense forests. Upon arrival in Guptkashi you check in at the hotel and in the evening visit the Ardh Narishwar Temple, an important shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva where the presiding idol uniquely depicts half Shiva and half Parvati, symbolizing the divine union of masculine and feminine energies. You spend the night resting and preparing mentally and physically for the trek to Kedarnath that begins the next day.
Day 3: Guptkashi to Kedarnath (30 km by road + 19 km trek)
This is the first major trekking day of your Do Dham Yatra Trek. After breakfast and a mandatory medical check-up to assess your fitness for high altitude trekking, you drive to Sonprayag, the starting point of the trek to Kedarnath. From Sonprayag you begin the challenging 19 kilometre trek to Kedarnath at 3,584 meters elevation, where you can opt for pony or palanquin (doli) services if needed. The trek passes through dense forests, alpine meadows and streams, offering breathtaking views of the Kedarnath mountain range. Upon reaching Kedarnath you visit the sacred Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, believed to be the place where Lord Shiva took refuge in the form of a bull after the Mahabharata war. You check in at a lodge or dharamshala near the temple, rest and acclimatize to the high altitude before evening prayers and dinner.
Day 4: Kedarnath to Guptkashi (19 km down trek + 30 km / 1 hour by road)
After morning darshan and prayers at the Kedarnath Temple, you begin the descent trek back to Sonprayag, retracing your path through the mountain forests and meadows. The downhill trek is physically demanding but rewarding as you enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Upon reaching Sonprayag you meet the driver and continue by road back to Guptkashi, checking in at the hotel in the afternoon. The rest of the day is kept free for leisure, allowing your body to recover from the strenuous trekking, and you can explore the local market or rest at the hotel. This recovery day is important for acclimatization before the journey to Badrinath the next day.
Day 5: Guptkashi to Badrinath (210 km / 7-8 hours)
After breakfast you drive to Badrinath via the scenic route through Joshimath, gradually ascending towards higher altitudes and experiencing changing landscapes from forests to rocky terrain. Joshimath, also known as Auli, is an important pilgrimage town and adventure destination in the Himalayas. Upon arrival in Badrinath at 3,133 meters elevation you check in at the hotel and rest for a few hours. In the evening you visit the sacred Badrinath Temple, one of the four Char Dhams and one of the most celebrated pilgrimage destinations in India, guarded by the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a magnificent backdrop. You attend the evening aarti and darshan, witnessing the spiritual rituals performed in this ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and return to the hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 6: Badrinath Sightseeing and Exploration
After an early morning bath in the sacred Tapt Kund natural thermal springs on the banks of the Alaknanda River, you perform darshan at Badrinath Temple and spend the day exploring the spiritual landmarks surrounding this sacred shrine. You visit Narad Kund, a recess in the river near Tapt Kund forming a natural pool from where the Badrinath idol was historically recovered, and Brahma Kapal, a flat platform on the riverbank where Hindus traditionally perform rituals for their deceased ancestors. You trek to Mana Village, India's last inhabited settlement before the Tibet border, inhabited by an Indo-Mongolian tribe, and explore the sacred sites including Vyas Gufa, the rock cave where the legendary sage Ved Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata and Puranic texts. You also visit Bhim Pul, a massive natural rock bridge spanning the roaring Saraswati River, and witness Vasundhara waterfall cascading down the mountainside. These explorations allow you to deeply connect with the spiritual and natural beauty of the Badrinath region before descending towards the plains.
Day 7: Badrinath to Rudraprayag (160 km / 5-6 hours)
After morning darshan and a final bath in Tapt Kund at Badrinath, you drive towards Rudraprayag, a town located at the sacred confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. The drive takes you through winding mountain roads offering spectacular views of river valleys, deep gorges and high peaks. Along the way you pass through or get views of other important pilgrimage confluences such as Vishnuprayag, Nandprayag and Karnaprayag, each considered spiritually significant in Hindu tradition. Upon arrival in Rudraprayag you check in at the hotel and spend the evening reflecting on the completion of your Do Dham Yatra Trek, having visited both Kedarnath and Badrinath and experienced the spiritual depth of these sacred shrines.
Day 8: Rudraprayag to Rishikesh to Haridwar to Delhi (Total 250 km / 7-8 hours)
On the final day of your Do Dham Yatra Trek, you drive from Rudraprayag towards Rishikesh, known as the "place of sages" and situated on the banks of the Ganga River surrounded by the Shivalik range of the Himalayas on three sides. The town is believed to have received its name from Hrishikesh, the form in which God appeared when the sage Raibhya Rishi performed intense penance. Upon arrival in Rishikesh you visit iconic spiritual sites including the famous Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula suspension bridges, Triveni Ghat, Bharat Mandir temple and the Shivananda Ashram. In the evening you attend the Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Ashram, witnessing the spiritual ceremony before continuing to Haridwar and then driving back to Delhi.
